Mid Tier Free Agents

When it comes to free agency most people realize the Pirates are not going to be players for the headline free agents but they want them to look at the 2nd and 3rd tier free agents, avoiding the scrap heap and aging veterans. So I looked at the WAR of all the free agents over the last 3 seasons, eliminated the high profile players and low end or “scrap heap” players. Then I looked at how the remaining free agents’ WAR were trending and removed players who were older and drastically trending downwards. I gave preference to players coming off strong seasons and younger players. I then did some house keeping, removing players who I didn’t think were realistic targets for the Pirates. The following is the list of free agents I came up with:
